Struggling To Lose Body Fat, Build Muscle or Get Fitter?
Are you trying to get fitter, build muscle or lose body fat? A food intolerance may be holding you back!
This is when your body has an immune reaction to a food that you eat, it is not an allergy, you tend to get symptoms like stomach ache, skin problems, brain fog, headaches, bloating, diarrhoea or constipation (to name a few).
If you consume this food or food group over and over again, you actually enhance the systemic immune response, which is also a stress response for your body and it therefore elevates the stress hormone cortisol as well as inflammation in your body. With increased cortisol levels and chronic inflammation your body will not build muscle or burn fat as easily, if at all.
How awful would it be if you are working your butt off to lose fat, build muscle or improve your fitness and the food that you are eating is actually stopping you from reaching your goals? Furthermore it could be adding to the stress your body is under!
The solution, cut out the food that you suspect is causing the reaction for at least 4 weeks. If you are not sure what is causing you to feel so bad and hold you back, you could try an elimination diet. This is where you cut out any well known food groups that can cause intolerances and then after 4 weeks you re-introduce each food group one at a time and observe any changes.
