It's All About Balance!
Food and drink are fun, they are social, they are our lifeline and they play an important role keeping us fit and healthy. I don’t believe that you need to be super strict with your nutrition to be healthy though! You need to consider your emotional health too and so eating or drinking a bit of what you like, or enjoying a meal or some drinks with friends and family can do us a world of good!
It is important to consider balance, balance in our nutrition and exercise. Don’t label foods as good or bad, instead think about the nutritional value of those foods. If they are man made and come from a packet eat them in moderation. If the food is from the earth and needs no label then enjoy it daily and eat the rainbow to get all the vitamins and minerals your body needs!
With exercise, more is not always better! Recovery is key and you need to allow your body time to repair so you get stronger. Many people forget that exercise is a stress on the body and whilst rest and recovery allows us to respond and get stronger from the stresses exerted on it, if we do not allow our body time to recover we risk illness and injury.
So think about your fitness and nutrition as a balancing act, you don’t want to tip the scales too far in one direction!
